Kayla Carey

Kayla specializes in corporate sustainability advisory, focusing on decarbonization strategy, carbon markets, and value chain interventions. She supports clients in various sectors, including cement, steel, consumer packaged goods, and energy, drawing on a background in carbon project and methodology development. Her work centers on guiding organizations through environmental markets and advancing initiatives in supply chain decarbonization and insetting, sustainability disclosures and claims, greenhouse gas accounting, and climate risk.

Before joining ClimeCo, Kayla managed environmental projects at a National Historic Landmark and conducted regulatory analysis for a wholesale power provider. She holds a Master’s in Environmental and Natural Resources Policy and a Bachelor’s in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado Boulder. Her graduate research focused on renewable energy and culminated in a capstone on clean energy opportunities and challenges in electric cooperatives. As an undergraduate, she completed an honors thesis on plant responses to rising carbon dioxide at EucFACE (Eucalyptus Free Air CO2 Enrichment) in Australia.

Based in Colorado, Kayla enjoys skiing, biking, and exploring new restaurants across the Rocky Mountains.
